Sugarloaf celebrates end of eastern ski season with “Ski & Tee Weekend”

CARRABASSETT VALLEY, Maine – Under sunny skies and with temperatures approaching 70 degrees, spring skiing enthusiasts and golf lovers flocked to Sugarloaf to celebrate the end of the eastern ski season and the beginning of the 25th year at the Sugarloaf Golf Club during the resort’s “Ski and Tee Weekend.” 

Sugarloaf offered spring skiing on a 27 trails today and golf on the back nine of the legendary Sugarloaf Golf Club, the earliest date the course has been playable in its 25 year history. The storm that hit Maine’s western mountains on Wednesday deposited a foot of snow on Sugarloaf’s upper elevations, but fell only as rain on the golf course, making for a perfect combination of great skiing on the mountain and great early season conditions on the course.  

“The course has come through the winter in some of the best shape we’ve ever seen, and we thought this would be a fun and unique way to cap off what has been a great winter season,” said Brad Larsen, Director of Sales and Marketing for Sugarloaf. “It’s not often that a resort can offer lift serviced skiing and golf in the same day.” 

Lift tickets were just $35 for all ages today, and nine holes were just $25 general public, or just $10 for anyone with a valid lift ticket or New England Pass.  

This year marks the 25th anniversary for the Sugarloaf Golf Club, which has been ranked as Maine’s top course 23 times by Golf Digest, and has been named one of the top 100 public courses in the country. The back nine at Sugarloaf features the world famous “Sting of Pearls” – holes 10-15 which run along the West Branch of the Carrabassett River and feature striking vistas, elevated tee boxes, and one of New England’s most unique golf experiences. 

Following the Ski and Tee Weekend the course will close again until its scheduled opening date of May 28.
