Sugarloaf Charity Summit tops $2 million raised for cancer research
CARRABASSETT VALLEY, Maine - The Sugarloaf Charity Summit, Sugarloaf's signature charitable event, raised a record-setting $203,500 this year, bringing the event's 12-year total to more than $2 million, the resort announced today. All of the money raised goes to help support cancer research and treatment in the state of Maine.
Nearly 400 people gathered in the King Pine Room of Sugarloaf's Base Lodge for the annual Charity Ball this past weekend, including U.S. Senator Angus King.
In addition to the auction events, Summit organizers recognized two recipients of Summiteer awards at the Charity Ball for their commitment and contributions to the Charity Summit over the years. The charity recognized Candace Foundation and Forsley family/Shipyard as the Corporate Summiteer, and the Individual Summiteer Award was presented to Peter Webber.
The Sugarloaf Charity Summit is the Sugarloaf's signature event, and one of the premier charitable events in the state of Maine. Over the years it has raised more than $2 million to benefit Maine charities, including the Maine Cancer Foundation and the Martha B. Webber Breast Care Center in Farmington.
Named after the late wife of Sugarloafer Peter Webber, the Martha B. Webber Breast Care Center offers timely access to state-of-the-art digital screening, diagnostic mammography, breast ultrasounds, clinical and care support services by a multi-disciplinary team of experts.
