Paper Diamond and ExMag to headline College Snowfest Week at Sugarloaf

CARRABASSETT VALLEY, Maine - In what promises to be one of the wildest weeks of musical performances anywhere in Maine this winter, Sugarloaf is set to host Paper Diamond, ExMag, Green Lion Crew, Grundlefunk, Mumz the DJ, Renegade Soundstation, and more, plus Maine's largest beirut tournament during the resort's annual Bud Light College Snowfest Week, January 4-7, 2016.

The annual event draws thousands of college students from around New England and features nightly parties, high-energy musical performances, and discounted lift tickets and lodging packages for anyone with a valid college ID.  

Following tremendous success with its 2015 debut, the resort announced that Maine's largest Beirut tournament will return in 2016, bigger, and better than ever. The competition will span two days with a qualifying round held on Tuesday, January 5 and a championship round on Wednesday, January 6, 2016.  

Colorado-native Alex Botwin, known in the electronic music realm as Paper Diamond, will anchor the week-long music festival. Hailed for "reinvigorating the American electronic music scene," by the Huffington Post, Paper Diamond's signature style infuses raw emotion with  memorable melodies, space-age synthesizers, catchy vocals, and serious genre experimentation to produce a  truly unique, high-energy, electronic sound. "Paper Diamond's music has the capacity to make a packed dancefloor vibe as one," writes the Huffington Post.  

As a self-proclaimed life-long musician, with more than 15 years of experience, Paper Diamond's career began as a bassist with the Pnuma Trio in 2004; he debuted was a solo artist and producer in 2011 with his first full-length album, Levitate. Paper Diamond draws inspiration from nearly every musical genre, including old funk, hip-hop, jazz, soul, and modern techno.  

Paper Diamond will close out the festival with a performance on Thursday, January 7, in the King Pine Room.  

Hailing from Brooklyn New York, Exmag is slated for a Monday night performance in the King Pine Room. 

The up-and-coming American downtempo electronic soul and funk band is comprised of Eric Mendelson, Mike Lannatto and Tyler Dondero, is most known for their funky, soulful and well-crafted electronic compositions. Combining soulful jazz laden chords with modern techno riffs, Exmag's delivers a signature sounds that captivates audiences from coast to coast.  

The week will also feature live performances from Grundlefunk, Mumz the DJ, and Big Ol' Dirty Bucket, plus perennial Reggae Fest favorites Green Lion Crew and Renegade Soundstation.  

New to College Snowfest Week this year, the resort will host a daily après series at the Widowmaker, from 3:00-5:30PM, featuring performances by Green Lion Crew. Après parties will be themed daily, and include prize winning opportunities plus exclusive College Snowfest giveaways.  

Admission to nightly shows will be $10 for Widowmaker Performances, and $15 for shows in the King Pine Room, or free with any week-long College Snowfest ski and stay package. Wristbands that will grant access to the four nights of performances are now for sale online for $40.  

Performances in the King Pine Room are open to ages 18-and-up, while shows in the Widowmaker Lounge are restricted to 21-plus.  

Discounted week-long lodging packages are available to college students for as little $345 per person, and include five days of lift tickets, five nights of lodging, and access to all events and concerts throughout the week.  

Single night packages start at $69 per person and include lodging and lift ticket only.
